Best of 2010

Since starting this blog in May, our list of ‘somethings new’ has grown substantially.

Here are some of our favorite pictures from 2010:

Our first project was growing herbs on our back deck. 2 out of 3 plants are still alive…we’d say mission accomplished…

This summer, we rented a community garden plot and got dirty sprucing the place up. We planted tomatoes, beans, a watermelon, herbs and peppers. We spent the summer eating vegetables we had grown ourselves…

In July, Sean and I headed to Cape May, NJ for a week in the sunshine. It is now officially one of our favorite vacation spots…

We decided to brighten up our apartment with an artistic creation of our own. We now have our very own Jackson Pollock

My sister packed up and moved to New York City this summer. I have enjoyed two girls’ weekends to visit since she moved!…

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on July 25…and are pretty sure it could be scientifically proven that we love each other more today than the day we were married (and that was an awful lot)…

These two beauties came to live with us this year. We were so blessed by a stranger’s generous gift to us!

We headed to Nicaragua this summer for our first mission trip together! We were so blessed to have been able to share that experience! We learned a lot about ourselves, our Lord, and each other…

We attended our first Steelers game…and I suppose I am obliged to say ‘Go Stillers!’…

After our trip to Nicaragua, we headed to Lake Erie to spend a relaxing week at Sean’s family’s lake house right on the beach…

Of course, we couldn’t miss our yearly trip to the Canfield Fair!…

We went on lots of fun dates this year including the day my romantic husband took us on a surprise picnic

Sean ran a marathon. Unlike this picture – it was a full-size marathon. So proud of you Sean!…

When the weather turned a bit colder, we headed to the farm, got in the fall spirit, and picked pumpkins

Half-heartedly dressed up for Halloween

And celebrated Thanksgiving with my family…

We decked our house out for Christmas and tried to stay sane throughout all the season’s busyness

And last week…my name was added to Sean’s childhood Christmas stocking! We celebrated Christmas with Sean’s family and then spent a few days with mine!

We are learning much about who we are – who the Lord has created us to be and what He has created us to do with our lives and our marriage. We are blessed to be married at this stage in our lives, for another year and for His Son who has saved us.

We had a very fun and very blessed 2010. As we move into 2011…

a prayer for the new year:

“God we ask you not to lift us out of life, but to prove your power within it; not for tasks more suited to our strength, but for strength more suited to our tasks. Give us the vision that moves, the strength that endures, the grace of Jesus Christ, who wore our flesh like a monarch’s robe, and walked our earthly life like a conqueror in triumph; we ask it for his sake. Amen.

Eternal God, thou makest all things new, and abidest for ever the same: grant us to begin this year in thy faith, and to continue it in thy favour; that, being guided in all our doings, and guarded all our days, we may spend our lives in thy service, and finally, by they grace, attain the glory of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”   -William Edwin Orchard

Thanks for keeping up with all our something’s new in 2010! Blessings to you in this new year!

My favorite picture is the farming pic. Not the one where you are standing in cut-outs or the one where you are on a cow… the one where sean has a pitch fork. Hilarious!

Love you guys! So glad to be a part of your year!
